The Eglow U models
The Advance Appliances EG 6-U, EG 9-U and EG 12-U are the underfloor versions of the Eglow, set up for a 60°C maximum flow in place of the 80°C of the radiator models. They share everything else: stainless steel heater pods, fully modulating output, a fitted A rated pump, automatic bypass and air vent, and the same 510 x 400 x 167mm case.
The installation guide asks installers to fit the right model for the job, choosing between underfloor and central heating versions and sizing the boiler to the heating demand.
What the installation needs
- A sealed system. The Eglow cannot be configured any other way; the sealed system kit supplies an 8 litre vessel, filling loop, 3 bar relief valve and gauge.
- A programmer and room thermostat, which the guide says are needed to meet Part L of the Building Regulations.
- A flushed system with inhibitor added, topped up after any drain down. The guide warns that chlorine based chemicals can attack stainless steel components.
- A single phase supply able to carry 30, 40 or 50 amps for the 6, 9 or 12kW.
One small area: the Plug N Glow
For a single room, Advance makes the Plug N Glow 2, a 2.7kW electric flow boiler with a 13 amp plug. It heats underfloor systems in conservatories of up to 20 square metres floor area; add a pump and a room thermostat. The flow temperature is set from 30 to 80°C on the dial, or by an external thermostat.
The Plug N Glow guide is clear on two points. When it runs on its own dial and timer, a pump must be connected or the unit will burn out. And the circuit must be full of water, with all the air out, before it is switched on, or the warranty does not apply.
Pre-plumbed for screed drying
The Plug N Glow 2 on a pre-plumbed manifold comes on a plate with an A rated pump, bypass valve, auto air vent and 22mm tails. Advance suggests it for quick installation and for drying new screed where underfloor heating is fitted. It still needs a sealed system kit, although Advance notes that new underfloor systems may already have that equipment.

- Yes. The Eglow U models run wet underfloor heating at up to 60°C flow, in 6, 9 and 12kW.
- They share the radiator models' pump, bypass, air vent and modulating heater pods.
- Every Eglow needs a sealed system, Part L controls and an inhibited, flushed circuit.
- For one room, such as a conservatory up to 20 square metres, the 2.7kW Plug N Glow 2 with a pump and room thermostat works.
- The Plug N Glow on a pre-plumbed manifold suits quick installs and drying new screed.
